Class win for Thong and FM Motorsport x Silver Rocket in Sepang 12 Hours

• Thong showed promising pace of the New Porsche 992 GT3 Cup

• Class win for FM Motorsport x Silver Rocket debut for the brand new race team

• Despite a low grid but the competition was high and valuable laps proved to be crucial

It was a successful debut for the new team FM Motorsport and joint by Silver Rocket this time for the 2023 Sepang 12 Hours after a long anticipated return after the Post Covid time. Thong joined as the leading driver aiming to lead the team through their journey and more future programs will be announced.

Thong joined Simon Chan and Alex Li to form a complete lineup for the GTC-Am class. It was unfortunate that the class only had a low numbers of entries die to logistics and various reason which the team did not expected. However the race served a huge purpose and step forward for FM Motorsport for their first ever race weekend, gaining valuable mileage under the belts and preparing for the main season.

“It wasn’t the hardest race I have to admit, but I think it is good to see Asian motorsport is finally back on track. It has been very difficult for Asian drivers lately so I am happy to see things are finally moving. Throughout the weekend our car showed strong pace and during my stints i was even able to put up some good fights with some of the mid pack GT3s which was a bonus as we were in a significantly slower GTC class. However i enjoyed it a lot and mostly importantly as a team we gained a lot of knowledge about the car and it will be crucial data for us throughout the 2023 season.”
